Bit of History:
Rolex Submariner model went into production in 1953 and first showcased at the Basel watch fair in 1954. Rolex Submariner has been shown on James Bond's wrist 11 times. The watch has been part of expeditions both at sea, such as the Moana expedition, and overland in the Antarctic, where it withstood temperatures of minus 45 degrees Celsius. Mr. Heyerdal Norwegian anthropologist wore a Rolex Submariner in his 1970 Ra II sea expedition. French diving company COMEX adopted the Rolex Submariner and Sea Dweller as standard issue for their saturation divers from late 1960s all the way up to 1997. British Royal Navy used a special edition of the Submariner 5513 for their "frogman" diver's use.
In 2003, Rolex celebrated the Submariner's 50th anniversary by launching the Rolex Submariner-Date anniversary edition 16610LV with distinguishing green bezel and Maxi dial, its production ended in 2010.
