Bit of History:
Launched in the 1960s Jaeger LeCoultre's reference E2643 was marketed as the “Shark Deep Sea” in the U.S and with name LeCoultre. This split branding exists because of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. To avoid steep import taxes on fully completed Swiss luxury watches, the manufacturer shipped movements, dials, and hands separately to the US. They were cased locally in the United States using American-sourced watch cases.
