Traser swiss H3 manufactures Swiss-made watches at its headquarters in Niederwangen (near Bern, Switzerland). All watches from traser swiss H3 have one distinctive and amazing feature: the in-house Swiss trigalight self-activated illumination technology. This technology keeps the time display glowing brightly and constantly in total darkness and poor visibility conditions. Trigalight was invented and developed by mb-microtec ag, which also owns the traser swiss H3 brand. It does not need to be recharged by electrical current from a battery or by any other external energy source. Trigalight consists of tiny airtight sealed glass capillaries with a thin layer of phosphorescent powder on their inner surface. This powder has the ability to change electrical energy into light. Each capillary contains a very small quantity of gaseous tritium. When an electron emitted by the tritium gas hits the layer, it is captured and transformed into light. And it continues to glow for decades.
In addition to this amazing technology, Traser swiss H3 watches are extremely robust and highly reliable. Each timepiece is designed and certified to uphold the high Swiss Made quality standards.
A bit of history
In 1918 Walter Merz and Albert Benteli began to develop luminous paint for the watch and instrument industry. They named their business "merz + benteli ag". Their chemical expertise led their company to global success. In 1969 Walter Merz`s son-in-law of Oskar Thuler joined the family business. His ideas for manufacturing luminous paints and self-illuminating light sources add another successful chapter to the company`s story and led to the creation of an ancestor company of today`s mb microtec ag.
In 1988 the US army discovered that phosphorescent paint on the hands and indices of the dials of watches built for military purposes emits a high dose of radioactivity. New equipment was needed. At this time, compasses delivered to the US army by Stocker and Yale were equipped with the trigalight illuminating technology, which proved to be safe and free from measurable radiation. Ever since, the trigalight technology has been used in wristwatches worn by various troops of the American army. This at the same time marked the birth of the traser swiss H3 watch brand.
